We are excited to welcome musician and curator Paul Purgas to BEEF. Paul is joining us for a week-long mini-residency in January 2016, learning skills directly from BEEF members in shooting and processing 16mm film; using BEEF equipment and our own bespoke darkroom. This week begins a period of research that will lead to a live event at BEEF later in 2016.
Paul Purgas trained as an architect and graduated from the Royal College of Art. He has presented performance and installation projects with the Whitechapel Gallery, Barbican, Wysing Arts Centre and Outpost gallery in Norwich, and has curated sound and moving image projects with the De La War Pavilion, Tate Britain and Färgfabriken in Stockholm. Alongside this he is one half of the sound/performance project Emptyset, part of the Berlin/Chemnitz based raster-noton collective.
