Tanya Syed is a Swansea-based artist, whose work explores performance, gesture, ritual and androgyny through a unique choreography of camera, body and lighting.
We present a selection of Syed’s single screen pieces, including Delilah (1995), Salamander (1994) and Peggy Shaw: A Film Portrait (2014), as well as installations Incantation (2006) and Off Stage (2008) from the Luminous Objects series. Attention to detail, inverted perspectives, unusual framing and fluid camera movement compose Syed’s distinctive film language.
