BEEF is excited to host the French artist Gaëlle Rouard who will give a two-day workshop on the art of ‘flat print’ filmmaking. Working intensively in the darkroom, participants will learn contact printing with found footage and hand processing, before working together with film projectors to create forms of visual music. The workshop promises to be a stimulating journey into analogue film production and performance.

The workshop is open to complete beginners, as well as those looking to develop their darkroom and projection skills.

Gaëlle Rouard has been making handmade films since the early ‘90s. She is a long time member of the ‘102 rue d’Alembert’, a venue dedicated to the creation and diffusion of experimental music and film. She also ran the film lab Atelier MTK in Grenoble for 12 years until 2006. An alchemist specialising in the precipitation of silver on film, she has developed and still exploring various methods of chemical processing on film, while experimenting with the possibilities of live multi-projection in both solo and collaborative forms.

Gaëlle Rouard and Melanie Clifford will be performing at our BEEF Christmas Party on the 17th December @ 8pm. Venue tbc.
