SAT 13th DEC – Direct Animation & Live Projection Experiments
10am – 4pm – £35
A hands-on dive into tactile film-making. We’ll work directly onto 35mm clear and black leader using pens, paint, scratching and even diluted acid to melt emulsion on old trailers. You can also create 35mm slides and try “hot projector” experiments — boiling liquids, popping seeds and other optical curiosities.
There’ll be the option to make your own Optikinetics effect wheel.
We’ll project your creations using hand-cranked 35mm projector, compact 35mm projector, Kodak slide projector and Solar 250
SUN 14th DEC – Half-Frame Film, Rayographs & Jacro UV Film Experiments
10am – 4pm – £45
Shoot black & white stills or pixelation sequences using half-frame cameras, then develop them in the darkroom.
We’ll experiment with creating animations using Rayograph techniques and contact-printing onto Kodak 2302 35mm movie print film. You can also test out Jacro UV film — an experimental stock exposed with UV light and developed using heat.
To end the day, we’ll project the results using hand-cranked and compact 35mm projectors.
